Such excitement!
Sep. 29th, 2009 05:06 pmSuch is my world now
At the moment, Fang is voicing his displeasure - loudly - in the front porch. I'm sure he'll settle down soon enough - he's got a new cat scratcher (complete with catnip), a new catnip mouse, and a little cat playhouse complete with ceiling string. He's found that it rolls if he hits the sides - thankfully it has openings on three sides. So, coupled with his hanging fish, bowl full of food, and bed - he should be able to find something to occupy him. I do have to say, it's hilarious watching him tangle with that catnip mouse - and his little house.
The reason he's upset is because he decided to climb over the screen door and investigate the main house. Thankfully, Petey was over by me getting his wounded ego massaged, so I slipped my belt off quickly to use as a makeshift leash. But Fang has a definitely different personality when he's around the dogs. No sweet, gentle snuggly kitten then. Oh no - around them he becomes Atilla the Hun.
At some point, I ended up sitting on the coffee table with Fang on my lap and Petey held at bay beside me. Have you ever tried to keep a 15 pound terrier down when you have to hold your arm out at full length so the "leash" is short enough? They did get a few nose-to-nose encounters, but then Fang started growling more than backing down, and about that time Muffy - who had no idea Fang was even in the room - decided to move down to our end of the couch.
So there I am - dog on leash to my left, cat on lap, and loose dog to my right. Yeah - Fang deposited back in porch and inside door closed. (He just pulled his Kilroy act on the door's window again.)
I'm definitely going to have to dig out Petey's real leash and keep it handy. And hope that Muffy is blind enough that she doesn't realize it's a cat and not a strange looking dog (though she's not particularly fond of other dogs, either).
So - one unhappy cat, one over-excited dog, one who doesn't give a shit at this point - and me.
Tomorrow is moving day - in that I'm moving some stuff out and around so there's room for his new carrier (compliments of my brother) - and eventually his current bed in the old clothes box will be cut off and he'll have to sleep in the carrier. Tough love time
At least I did accomplish one thing - I got my passport card application filed. Supposedly only take three weeks to arrive. And it was nice today so I left the outside door open while I was gone - only to come home and find one of the tomcats in my porch eating Fang's food.
Soooo - guess Fang is officially an indoor cat now.
And I'm 31 days and counting...
(Definitely going to spend some time in the bars...)
