I am about ready to kill three animals.
Sep. 28th, 2009 12:08 pmWhere to even begin...
Fang has been in the main house twice now. The first time we kept Petey on his leash, the second we locked both dogs in the kitchen. Fang has decided he should be in the house all the time - Petey is equally determined to keep him out.
We have a window at the top of the inner door - about 5 feet off the ground. Both Saturday and Sunday nights Fang pulled a "Kilroy" act - we heard a scrambling as the screen bounced, and then here's this little kitten face and two paws, peeking over the edge of the window.
Funny - if it hadn't driven both dogs to distraction.
Then Sunday, for whatever reason, my niece and her husband stopped by. With their little dog. Well, my niece is in a wheelchair so we stayed outside chatting. Then there was a huge crash from the porch - yeah. Fang managed to pull an old birdcage down (how the hell he got back to it, let alone find room to knock it down, I have no idea). So anyway, he was scared to death, and after I calmed him down, he wanted OUT. So I let him out and he was hurrying toward the back garden when my niece's dog spotted him.
I hadn't realized they didn't have him on a leash.
Yeah.
It was almost two hours after they left that Fang made an appearance again. I was scared shitless he'd left for good. But he showed up in the garden and came running over to his security blanket - me.
Still trying to get the dogs used to Fang. Still have the screen between the porch and the main house but I'm trying to leave the door itself open. As long as I'm sitting on one side or the other, they'll get within inches of each other with nothing more dramatic than curiosity. If I leave, Petey guards the door and Fang sits in the porch meowing very loudly. Very loudly. And occasionally Muffy will come to the door, see "something" moving, and go ballistic. Which then sets off Petey, which in turn sends Fang rushing to his hiding place. And then I have to chastise, calm and placate all three. Again.
32 days... 32 days...
And then I may spend most of the convention in the bar...
