5 days left!
Mar. 26th, 2008 06:08 pmAnd then I'll be done with work for this quarter. It's been a weird one - one day we're tearing our hair out to get stuff off the line, the next day there's NADA! Hard to get into any kind of "rhythm". Makes everything hard - one day I come home practically dead from the frantic pace, the next day so tired from boredom I don't feel like doing anything. Covenant is definitely suffering, as well as the housework, etc.
But, come Monday it's spring cleaning time! I love it. I really do. That's the time I take a few hours every day and just tear everything apart, from ceiling to floor and clean, sort, throw - and the more I do, the better I feel. Almost like I'm clearing out my psyche with every dead dust bunny :D This year is going to be a real challenge, because instead of just cleaning, I'll be sorting out all the flotsam and jetsam from the almost sixty years my family's lived in this house. Taking pictures of everything, putting them on DVDs and sending out to the siblings - anything they want, they better come get. Consensus items to stay in the house get cleaned and put in their proper place. Everything else - SOLD! I figure between the attic, five bedrooms, study, living room, dining room, basement, garage and workshop, it'll take me a couple months to get through everything. But my mother (well, actually, both Mom and Dad) were pack rats. There are boxes of bills from the 60s up in the storeroom! But I'm just in a frame of mind the last couple of years where I want to get rid of non-essential material things. Sure, there are some items that'll be kept for sentimental reasons, but mostly pictures and things that really meant something. I'm just tired of clutter - of any kind - in my life. The sooner I get this done, the easier it will be to keep this huge house up, and make it run efficiently. And the easier it will then be for me to just say - I'm leaving for a while. Don't know where I'm going - but I'm going.
