Something is definitely wrong with my back. Fuck the doctors who haven't been able to figure out what. Last night (at work) I reached the point where I could barely lift my right arm above my shoulder, and trying to lift anything (even a frigging TV dinner) was agony - pain would radiate from my shoulder blade down and across my back and around to the front. The whole night it was like a continuing cycle of micro-spasms - hot, sharp pains hitting like hail on my back. Toward the end of the night, even the manager was asking if I was alright. Which I wasn't. I haven't spent that much time close to tears since I was in labor. Got home and laid down immediately - 8 hours later and I still can't straighten up.

Luckily, I have tonight off so hopefully, if I don't do anything more strenuous than loading the dishwasher - which I *have* to do :p - I'll be fit for work Friday. Which will most likely start it up all over again.

On a lighter note, Petey is doing much better with the anti-inflammatories - even his good days are better than they were before, so I think we'll be able to stick with them instead of going to steroid treatment.

Is it a trapped nerve in the shoulder? Sounds awful. It bugs the hell out of me that I can't say to you, go to the docs, at least for stronger painkillers if nothing else. Thinking back to my trapped nerve/ sciatica thingy attack over Christmas, that was scary enough without adding in any extra worry about whether I'd be able to afford the doctor and treatment. :(

Several people have mentioned nerve damage of some sort, and I'm inclined to agree with that. Especially when I consider the surface numbness over the area most affected by the pains.

But yeah - my insurance doesn't kick in until next month, and then there's little things like 'pre-existing condition" and high deductibles... Besides, 3-4 doctors (forget now which) have checked it over the last few years and couldn't find anything. Not much point going again. :(

Yeah, the numbness sounds telling - I get that in my leg.

And of course it's the kind of thing it's very hard to diagnose. About the only thing that can confirm it apparently is an MRI scan - very expensive!

Well, if you were over here, I'd say go to an osteopath/physiotherapist, and NOT the doctors. Jack of all trades, specialist in NONE!

Hope your back gets better. Sounds like you need the anti-inflammatories.

Sounds like you need the anti-inflammatories.

If they worked for me - tried various kinds before and they haven't. :(

I'll just have to martyr muddle on...
