Seriously. I think the work-some-days-not-others-and-it-constantly-changes combined with the graveyard shift is doing my head in. For example, Fang spent the night on the porch last night. I locked her out without realizing it. Needless to say, since it was cold and rainy and the two windows on the porch were left open, she was not very happy when I let her back in this morning. (She did forgive me after some milk with her breakfast and a long snuggle session ;-))

I haven't written anything on Covenant for the last several days - haven't really written, period. I cannot get my damn brain to settle on any one thing for more than a few minutes, then it's off on some tangent completely unrelated to whatever it is I'm doing.

I also forgot to feed the animals yesterday until Petey would not leave me alone - and then I realized...

Sooo... have started checking out the local businesses, trying to find out if any are or will be looking for part-time help in the near future. I figured out I'm working a full day just to pay for the gas to get to work, so even if I take a pay cut, I could still come out even working in town versus the city. And no long commute. I hate leaving at 9PM and getting back home at 8AM - WTF??? Hell, I could walk to work! lol But, the economy here is lousy - I mean, really lousy - so who knows when there might be something. But I'll take anything - after stocking, I've realized I will do any job, no matter how crappy!

In the meantime, I'm going to write a checklist to make sure I do everything I need to each day - like feed the menagerie, check where Fang is before I lock up at night, etc etc...

I hate the long commute. Feels like such a horrible waste of time. And good point about how long you're working just to earn the money to actually travel to work!

Definitely need to do a spreadsheet of what expenses and other bad things you'd avoid by working locally. There's plenty to be said for the old pros and cons list.

I used to work at a place I could walk to in ten minutes. That was fantastic. :D

Oh and currently I spend around 45 mins to an hour going to and coming back from work. Which is bad enough (I can write 1000 words in an 45mins!) But at least I can read on the Metro for a few minutes. I'd hate to be driving. I'd have to have loads of audio books and podcasts to listen to.

I've considered getting a tape recorder (or whatever they're calling them these days! LOL) to use on the drive, but then I'm driving through heavy deer areas, so concentrating on that more than anything. :( But yeah, there isn't any place in my town I can't walk to in less than 15 minutes (hell, I'd be out of town in that time :D)
