Frustrations

Well, things have gone from okay to oh-shit in a hurry...

Fang is looking for a new home again, due to circumstances beyond anyone's control. So I have contacted Paws and Claws and hopefully they'll either have a home or space available for him at the shelter soon. In the meantime, he's continuing to use Petey as his Big Toy, the tail being the favorite plaything, but simply walking by Fang's little "playhouse" is enough reason for a blitzkrieg attack. (Petey has developed a nervous little tick... lol)

Not sure if I'll be going to the convention in Winnipeg now, either. Every website I visited (including the official one) kept saying it only took 3 weeks to get a passport card versus the 4-6 weeks to get a passport book. So, due to the financial timing, I opted for the card. Now, of course, they'd suddenly changed their tune. Both take 4-6 weeks to get. So, I called and asked if I could change from the "normal" processing to expedited. Well, if I had applied for the passport book, I could have. Because I applied for the passport card - you know, because of the shorter processing time? - I can't. So if the damn thing gets here in time, I'll be going to the convention. If not... I absolutely hate bureaucracies. I don't understand how it takes that long for a passport anyway. My God, in this day and age they can't check on things sooner than that?

Oh DOH - it's the government...

Then there was a used transit bus on eBay that would've been just perfect for converting, but it got bid up past my current affordability, so that was a little added icing to the cake...

So... add in over a month of rarely seeing the sun, temperatures 10-20 degrees below normal, and either rain or drizzle nearly every day, and I'm feeling like I should really just say fuck it all and take my truck and a tent and go flop on the beach for the next twenty years. I can live off the fish, right?

Yeah. It's been one of those times...

I wouldn't worry about the beach - the way my plans seem to work out lately, I'd probably crash before I got out of Iowa...

I'm with JFM... not sure I'm liking the idea of you going off to the beach (look at us - selfish people!) UNLESS you have internet access ;-P

And OMG is it just a Government thing generally to be shit at these sorts of things. How come it can take about a week to give you a bloody speeding ticket from a camera (I'm not actually sure how long it takes, but I bet it's a darn sight faster than letting you have a bloody passport!) but 4-6 weeks for a passport? I appreciate that there are probably a lot of passports to deal with - BUT hire more STAFF!!! Hey, I have little faith in the competency of the human race, so these things frustrate the hell out of me lol!

Well, if I had my own place so my brother wouldn't spend all afternoon passed out on the couch because of his allergies... no. :p I do care about the little guy, but I just can't see myself making a long-term commitment like that. I'm just tired of taking care of people and animals - I don't even like taking care of plants any more! LOL

4-6 weeks for a passport?

I know - it's just ridiculous. If it's something the government wants from the person, it better get done RIGHT NOW! The other way around - fat chance. Must be using carrier pigeon for their info gathering...

Hey my dad and I get on our soap box about this quite often. The government are good at fining the people they know who WILL pay, putting taxes on things (petrol for one!) they know the hard working citizen out there will just pay because they have to, to get to work etc. etc. etc. Whereas the lazy arses that have benefits thrown at them... grrr...

Well, I'd have to put him up for sale, and at an ungodly amount. Otherwise, what happens is that the science labs purchase (or grab free) unwanted animals for their medical experiments. I just cringe every time I see an ad for free kittens or puppies, because I know damn well where most of them will end up. :-(

Hey, if you did sell Fang for an ungodly amount, it might help towards the purchase of a truck :-P

Well, unfortunately, being cute, snuggly and smart won't really bring in a huge amount for a kitten ;-) It's the sad state of reality that there are so many stray animals around, nobody cares about one in particular. And cats in particular. I don't know why - some people don't like dogs, so they just stay away from them. People who don't like cats seem to escalate to hate, and do some really, really cruel things to them. And then think it's funny.

Bah. I just don't have time for people any more. Shoot 'em all and leave the planet for the "other" animals.
