Well, didn't get to work on this much today. But I did work on it :D  About 1400 words, which isn't bad for less than an hour's work. I blame it on my brother and the weather :p  Can't smoke in the house when he's down, so have to stop and go outside instead of taking a couple relaxing puffs along the way. And of course good weather means outside stuff to do. But he's going home tomorrow afternoon, so will have most of the night to write tomorrow.

But I'm definitely getting a feel for the story now. I know better what it's going to be about and the direction things are going to go. I actually think by the time I get through this month, I might actually have a workable story. Weeks of rewriting, of course, but it might not be as horrid as I thought at first. Still having to stop myself from editing as I go along, and getting rid of contractions so I can get the word count up. Breaking habits of too many years - that's HARD!  :p

Anyway, tomorrow's another day. At least I've actually started, right? Right?  LOL

Only thing is I didn't get to put my count on NaNo - kept timing out so I guess their server must be really busy. Oh well - I'll get it up there eventually ;-)

Well done! Sometimes it doesn't matter how much planning you do, it's only once you start writing that you start to "get" the story.

Hey, with your usual story length you shouldn't need to worry about contractions. :D

That's an "official" one. But I like this one more. It's appropriate any time of year for me!

Whoops, more. The site was a right nightmare yesterday. I did manage to get on and get my word count updates, but it took some time. It should calm down in a couple of days. Try accessing it outside of peak hours for the US.

Well done! You only need to do 1,666 words a day really, so you're only a couple of hundred short... easily make that up tonight with no distractions!

I did used to tweak things as I went, spelling etc. Because I just can't stand the wiggly lines in my document, and I don't like turning it off either. So 'some' editing is okay as you go if you know you're capable of getting the word count in. For me it made me move on with the story and not get stuck on the first chapter tweaking it all the time. Made me go back and edit that later, that sort of thing.
