Television
Oct. 9th, 2008 01:00 amI've had the TV on for noise value, as usual, but glancing at the various shows that are on... God. There's one called "Top Design", which is a reality/contest show for interior designers. Good Lord, what a bunch of weirdos. Either total prima donnas or boring as hell. Or just plain weird. Then there's "Project Runway" - another r/c for clothing designers. I kinda like that one, because I like to see what kinds of outfits they come up with - but if I see one more of those "mwa mwa" kisses - geez. And then there's a "set" of shows called "Real Housewives of [various cities]". I see nothing real about these plastic bitches. I mean, my God - they think they're so cool and "in" and frankly, I'd run the other way - FAST - before getting involved with any of them.
There are a couple shows I do like to watch - The Closer, Ghost Whisperer, House - where they actually write a story and the actors really act - but mostly if I have it on at all it's just for the human voices. Which is why I'm 90% convinced I should just drop the cable TV and only keep the cable internet. I can't see paying nearly $60 a month when I actually watch maybe 5 hours of television a week. And most of the shows I like I can watch on the 'net or get the DVDs later.
But God, it would be so nice if producers and networks would remember that there are still some viewers who want something *intelligent* to watch...
