Whatever was I thinking!

Real screwup at work last night. Managers wanted to wax the aisles in Frozen (why, when it means closing off those aisles to customers!) so we had seven pallets to work through - in two hours! Usually an all-night job. So we had the Dairy folks over to help, and since the other Frozen guy was late (as usual) I had to organize everything. Kicked into my Blue Zoo mode (as Cornell calls it) and started hauling out pallets, downstacking into aisles so the others had something to work on while I hauled out the next pallet, downstacked, etc. We were finished by 12:10am - and THEN the manager says they finally came to their senses had decided there was too much customer traffic so they weren't going to wax after all...
And I got my truck back - finally! Turns out the starter burned out as well. Total bill was over $1200 - but if it lasts me another year, that's equivalent to $100/month car payment. Can't buy a new one (or even a used one) for that! And it's so nice driving now - the steering's better, and with the new tires I'm going through stuff I would've just slid around in before - and that's without putting the weight in the back yet!
So, since my son and brother had to go up to the Cities early this morning, as soon as I picked up the truck (and took a nap after work) I headed back up to the city to get groceries and pick up the last Xmas stuff. I don't know why, but I bought a big box of Christmas cookies, a bigger box of assorted chocolates, AND a cheesecake. This, along with ice cream and the mixings for the requisite pies... Good Lord, I'm going to hell in a handbasket, healthwise (because you know damn well who's going to eat most of that crap!). Ah well. A few more days and it'll be the new year and I can get a fresh start - in a lot of things.
Anywhoooo... presents to wrap, house to clean, baking and cooking to do - and that's just tonight! LOL
If I don't get online before - Merry Christmas to all and to all - good luck! ;-)

Date: 2010-12-24 01:15 pm (UTC)I've made LOADS of puddings/desserts, loads of food for Boxing Day... but even though I hate waste, wanted to make sure everyone got what they wanted. And besides, this time of year, I'm just really in the mood to bake and make.
Christmas is a time for indulging... and then it does make us concentrate harder on getting back on track in the New Year ;-)
Enjoy those threats! I'm sure with two men in the house they'll help!
