Usual dilemma - slept 3 hours this morning (almost to the minute), tried to sleep tonight and couldn't get there, now have an hour before I have to leave for work and feel like I could sleep for a week... sooo...

Just watched the pilot for the new Hawaii 5-0. Can't say I'm impressed. Kinda like the faux Battlestar Galactica - same character names but I'm not seeing any vestige of the old characters. The only things I really like about the show are the actors who play McGarrett (Alex O' Laughlin) and Chino Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim). But otherwise, it seems to be the usual cop show, located in Hawaii versus Miami or New York. They added in the token female (and in fanfic terminology, the usual Mary Sue, so you know, superior fighter and excellent eye candy combined) and made McGarrett Jr a former Navy Seal (SF types seem to be another common denominator for tough good guys nowadays). I also kinda like the character Danno, but I'm still reserving judgment on that one. So current verdict - if you like action-heavy cop shows, you'd probably like this one, but don't expect a "revisited" Hawaii 5-0.

It was followed by another new cop show, "Blue Bloods". Makes me wish I could find tapes/vids of "Family in Blue" (TV show with Dirk Benedict, 1982) - see if this is at all similar. Sypnopsis sounds like it.

Appreciating more and more the A-Team movie, that's for sure - and I haven't even seen it yet! :p

I read on someone else's LJ that Lost has made the landscape of Hawaii so familiar to us that they keep recognising locations in Hawaii 5-0 as The Island. :D With having Daniel Dae Kim on the show too then people will keep expecting the smoke monster to show up! Maybe it's one they should have waited a few years to do, for memories to fade. Go remake Miami Vice instead.

Oh and ex-Navy Seals are so five years ago.

I'd like to see it to check it out. I've seen clips and Dano seems like a load of laughs. But who knows if we'll ever get it in the UK.

What? Jin is in Hawaii Five-O :D

Hey, wasn't it weird listning to him and he's all American... and the guy who plays Sayid, such a Londoner - so funny!

The actor who plays Ben sounds like Ben in real life :-P

I always find it fun when you hear what Actors really sound like. Some don't change their voice, others have to.

Sorry, Star, totally gatecrashed there... hope you slept okay, or felt okay once you got to work. More coffee required me thinks!

My favourite bloopers on the Lost DVDs nearly all involve Naveen Andrews breaking character and using his normal accent. It's just so incongrous! :D Hey, Sayid, an Arab character played by a British actor of Indian descent with the strongest south London accent in the world! He's quite a mix!

That's cute, but not nearly as cute as his snuggling on a bunk with Desmond. :p

Well I found that funny... But I know what you saw in that :-P (Hey, but there was no subtext really with Sayid and Desmond was there? - only in the bloopers?)
