This and that

Got home from work this morning, did a quick check of my "places" on the net and went to bed. My back and knees didn't start hurting until around 5 this morning, so that was good. But I was working by myself in one of the freezer aisles, so wasn't constantly twisting around to see who was telling me something confusing this time, and it meant I could put the boxes where I wanted them to be, where it was best for me as far as opening and putting the stuff away.
I do like most of the people I'm working with. Well, the guy last night was a bit iffy - he showed up late (and apparently that's a favorite trick of his on Saturday nights) and then he was very slow (compared to the others I've worked with) in sorting stuff out. I could've done it faster and I barely know where things are! But they have a weird system for the incoming stuff - it all comes packed on 3-4 pallets, and we go through one pallet at a time - which means that we're seeing the same stuff on several pallets - which is aggravating when you've already filled something and then you have to move (heavy) boxes of the same thing from the "needs filling" pallet to the "overstock" pallet. So much for their nifty "point of sale" inventory system. :p
I'm actually working with another couple of ex-IBMers (well, ex-Manpower from IBM). One gal worked in another area of manufacturing, but the other (a guy) actually worked for me a few times. LOL But that was kinda nice in a couple ways - he told the others that I was "an okay gal", which got me off to a good start *and* it told me I wasn't such a hardass boss as some people thought. :D
But "the kids" aren't liking me having a job - I get home and it's three furballs demanding my attention (and apologies for leaving them alooooonnnnnne!). Even Fang is meowing - loudly! - until they get their "reconciliation" treats. LOL
But one really nice thing about work - instead of going in and dreading another week of a job that's not the greatest, I can think "Only two days. I can deal with it for two days." and then I have a couple days off before the next "Only two days. I can deal with it for two days.". So hopefully my schedule stays that way, and they don't switch and have me working four straight days each week. Quite honestly, I'd have to ask them to switch it back - I must be getting old because I really am in big discomfort the day after work. I seriously don't think I could handle four days (or even three days) in a row. But - cross that bridge when/if I come to it.

Date: 2010-04-25 10:05 pm (UTC)lol! You sound like me every (other) weekend (now). I finished today, not having to go in till Friday now. And that's only 3 hours, then I'm not working the weekend, as I worked this one :D Yay!
Pays the bills, and allows me to stay home with my kids... and hopefully put some time into writing, which should improve.
