The hell with "Nice"

So - have been getting stuff moved over to the new computer. Then I was checking the links - discovered that my wonderful ISP - Mediacom - switched the hosting service for personal web pages WITHOUT NOTIFICATION so now I have no website. It also turns out that the new hosting service is one of those who believes people are universally too stupid to figure out HTML, and so only have a bunch of sorry excuse templates to choose from, and when I try to edit those with my html it does such wonderful things as putting the background image down in the corner of the page. Lovely.

So my fanfic site is out of commission until I find a new host. It pisses me off - not only because there was no notice but because they went to Stupidsville for the new one.

So yeah - fuck "nice". Life was more manageable when I expected crap out of it.

Oh but I do sympathise with the website thingy magigy... because it's happened to me too... and I just don't have the time to fuck around with setting up another. I think I might invest in actually paying for one, if I actually get serious about it... That way, I know it's there.

I am a bit thick on the HTML but it's not because I can't work it out... I just can't be arsed... again it takes time. And if I'm mucking around with a website, I'm not writing at the moment.

Well, that's the whole thing - it literally took me months to get all my stories and illustrations into html format - and now they want me to choose from from cheeky gopher or a "pretty pink flower" - give me a fucking break. And god knows how they do the switching from page to page...

Don't worry about it for the moment. Do you have the pages in HTML format... you might be able to transfer to somewhere else.

Just keep writing... I've just forgotten about my site for the moment, until I have time to do something about it lol! I'll rely on ff.net and the archive :-P

Well, the only saving grace is that almost everything is either ffnet or the archives - and I do have all the html files - so it's just a matter of finding someplace to put them :p I'm going to try one more thing and if that doesn't work, start looking for a new host.

I do need to get back to my writing - soooo many things in bits and pieces, both in my head and "on paper" - but I get so damn frustrated with this kind of shit. OY!

They could at least give people a choice! There should be a range of options from "here's the space, you fill it with your files" to the Easy as ABC templates for people who need hand holding. That way everyone's happy and everyone's able to get their stuff online. How hard is that to figure out?

Yeah - I guess it actually just happened, because I've come across a few forums where Mediacom is getting blasted. Almost everyone lost their web pages. Gawd...

But Covenant is being posted over on FFNet - give me a few days to get my blood pressure back down to normal - the last few days have been... well, shitty. LOL
