Minnesota winters suck

I've been debating all morning whether to try shoveling out today or wait until tomorrow. High today is only supposed to be 5 degrees F, tomorrow up to a whopping 15. I don't really need to go anywhere - well, unless I get so stressed out trying to decide if I should shovel that I smoke extra heavy. But I've already missed today's mail delivery (if I even had any mail to be delivered) and I have food enough in the house, sooo...

I'm not being lazy, honest! But we got about a foot of snow, which blew into drifts, and then the snowplows came through, so I've got a 10 foot long section of sidewalk that's packed snow... and it's only 5 degrees. I was having some heart problems when I was working outside at 25 degrees, so yeah... not leaping toward that possible adventure. And I never thaw out, either. I won't warm up now until sometime in May...

And so yeah... in a very bitchy mood today.

I hate winter.

Stay in... no point shovelling it then finding you have to do it again tomorrow. Only do it when you really need to.

Yeah, I've just taken a quick look around the neighborhood (via an upstairs window) and the only ones who've cleared their sidewalks are the people who have the big tractor-style snowblowers - so me and my little electric shovel will just stay cosy for today. :p

He just watched it through the window and seems a bit unnerved by the now-white world out there :p But he hasn't been outside for weeks. I've decided I'm very glad I did bring him in - as little as he still is, he never would've made it through this storm.

Yeah - I know he's used to the perils of the world, but I just don't like letting him run - and I don't see him letting me put a collar and leash on anytime soon :p But next summer I'll have a more enclosed kennel area for all three ani-mules so they can all stay out more.

Yeah, he's staying. :-( As to the name, not sure about that. He is getting used to it. I guess it depends on whether or not his little "things" drop or not. Until I know if he's a he or a she... Don't really want to call him Penelope LOL

Yeah, but he/she could be Whiskers, Kipper, anything... Although we all know him as Fang now.

If he was a Tom you'd know wouldn't you? Tend to spray, marking territories etc... How old do you think he is?

Well, that's the thing - when I first found him, he was doing the little tail wiggle (even if nothing happened :p) so I figured he was a he. But he hasn't done any of that since bringing him inside. We first found him in late June or early July, and figured he was probably born around May, possibly April. So he'd be 6-7 months old now. But I've heard it can take up to a year for them to "show", so - who knows?

Will you get him neutered either way? (I mean whether he's a girl or boy... not giving him a sex change lol!) I think cats become 'nicer' when they are.

Yeah - at least, once I have a job so I can pay for it - vets are strange that way, wanting to get paid for stuff :p

We were lucky, when Chloe adopted us... she'd already had her op :D

Actually, there is a group that rounds up stray animals and gets them fixed - the vets do it for free or reduced charge to the group - and then they set them free again (too many and too wild to try and adopt them out) but now that Fang has a home... oh well.
