:o See, where I come from that branch would be a tree! So an entire tree fell off of a bigger tree into your garden. Good Lord! Beautiful garden by the way. :) Maybe I'll take a pic of my window box for you all to see. :D lol

Yeah, it's pretty big. ;-) The main trunk is about 3.5 feet in diameter, give or take - which is why we have to a pro come in to cut it down (hopefully this year yet). That and the willow (of similar proportions). But at least it wasn't one of the *big* trees in the front of the house :D

Heh, yep, same here as Bev, that branch is probably the size of one of the trees in my garden. :D

Yikes! As beautiful as large trees are, if they start breaking down that's no fun!
Reminds of the big old apple tree in our garden. One night it broke off right at the base without moving an ounce of soil. We were extremely lucky, because it landed neatly between the neighbour's fence and our shed and only damaged one little branch of our plum tree. At least our friends with fireplaces were happy, they got a lot of wood for nothing...
Btw, what kind of bird is that? Looks a little like blackbird, but not quite. Just curious, 'cause I'm always interested in nature.

It's a baby robin - all feet and beak :D Young enough to still have a couple bits of fluff on him/her and the spotted breast. Just sat in the swing, staring at me as I was sawing up the branches. Once I saw it, I left so the mama would come. Eventually it flew off into the brush (I kept watching it from the window, in case of cats).

Oh, then it's the fluff that made it look strange. Thanks for telling me! Young birds are so cute. How nice of you to give mama a chance to get her young one. A few weeks ago we had young bluetits and young sparrows in our garden. What a noise! But lovely to watch!
