Finally got my taxes done up and mailed. Geez. I usually do it online, but every place you go nowadays charges for it, even if it's just filling in the blanks. And then the government keeps saying they want to encourage e-filing - so why don't they just let you fill in the forms through the IRS/state sites instead of using go-betweens? Why should I pay to e-file when I can do them on paper for free? GAH!  So then I had to print out all the forms and mail them in. Along with the payments, which is why I'm mostly in the Bitch mode...

Otherwise - Chapter 46 is now up on my site and ffnet, so I can start on 47 with a clear conscience. :p  The tree is still laying over the fence - too wet yet yesterday and today we've got horrific winds, which isn't really the best time to cut on a suspended tree...so hopefully tomorrow I can get at it. Physical labor will probably lower my blood pressure - burn off all the frustrations.

Soooo...now I'm sitting here, exhausted, really wishing I had a bottle of good brandy...or wine...hell, even a couple beers would taste good  LOL

The whole tax system is nuts here. Employers send us forms, showing how much we earned and what taxes were paid - the state (at least the one where I live) has you fill out *another* form with all the same information on it, and won't let you just send the employer form. That, on top of the tax return form itself. And then if you include your payment with the return, there's yet another form to fill out! All this, plus a copy of your Federal return that has to be included.

The "simple" Federal tax form is two pages, 40-odd questions, and you have to keep adding and subtracting and multiplying in order to determine what your actual "taxable" income is, versus gross income. Thank God I've been doing these for years, otherwise...:p

Tell me, does the US have a larger number of accountants per head of the population than any other country in the world?
