We're gonna need a bigger... chainsaw
Jul. 25th, 2011 08:06 pmAnother big tree limb down. Big like huge. It's a little over a foot wide where it meets the tree itself, and fell on top of another large branch. That one didn't break off, but will have to come down because it's bent to the ground - which used to be about 25 feet below it. Problem is (besides not having a chainsaw big enough to deal with either) if the top branch is cut first, the lower branch is going to fly up - and at the length and breadth it is, it would not be pretty. If we cut that one first, there's a good chance the larger upper branch (which is currently hanging by about six inches of bark/fiber) will come crashing down. Fast. So we have to call in a pro to do this one. Thank God my brother got one of his checks.
But the good news is: both branches came down to the side of the house instead of on it. :D
Still don't have any idea why it came down. It had stormed rather violently the night before, but this didn't happen until about 6:30 the next morning, several hours after the storm. Very odd.
