Well, work is looking...boring. Always is, the first month of the quarter, but geez. Last night, from 9:15 until we left at 11 there wasn't a damn thing to do.Literally. We just wandered around...I'm taking my notebook with me tonight. If it's like that again, I'll work on some of my writing. Nobody's going to notice anyway.
So...goals for this week: four holidays and three quick picks, plus a new chapter of Covenant. I'm feeling good about Covenant again - finally! Getting to some nitty-gritty things again, and then moving into the ending. That's going to be fun - and a relief to get it finished. I'm thinking maybe five to six more chapters, then an epilogue perhaps. Then I have a lot of cleanup from the storm last night, and housecleaning. Have to start thinking about moving out of this house and into the old one - so much work to get done first! But as long as that's accomplished by sometime in October, before the really cold weather sets in, I'll be okay. I'm thinking, though, that if I'm working third shift again I'll leave the dogs in the main house while I'm at work - or maybe put in a supplemental (electric) heater so I don't have to worry about leaving the woodburner going when I'm not there. Anyway, that's way in the future, relatively speaking. ;-)
Major storm last night - neighbors across the street had a big tree split down the middle - luckily it didn't hit their house. I didn't have a lot of damage - lost a big branch off the apple tree, and some big branches from some of the others, but got off lightly. All I can hear around the neighborhood is chain saws (seems everyone owns at least one) and pickups and trailers full of brush and debris being hauled out. About an inch of rain, was all, though.
So, enough prattling on. Edited Chapter 56 of Covenant already, so I think it's ready to post on my site and ff.net, along with the shorties I did. Had an email from one reader, expressing regret that I wasn't going to finish Covenant - talk about incentives to get moving again! Geez...
