Gawd, I love the opening episodes of this show! I love Simon Cowell! He just asked one contestant if he found that animals gathered outside his house when he sang. LMAO! And it's soooo much nicer without Paula there, telling everyone how they have potential! And getting nasty with anyone who disagrees with her - like Simon. I much prefer his honesty, however biting, to the mamby pamby crap of Paula. I mean honestly - most of those people shouldn't even sing in the shower, let alone audition for a show.

But it's fun to watch them - and the worse they are, the more over the top the reaction when they get tossed. None so blind, as they say...

Aaargh! Now you guys have Simon Cowell too? That man is taking over the world. But you're right, his honesty is good. Some of the people who try to go on these shows should have had someone tell them what he does years ago!

We've always had Simon! :D I'm very unhappy that this is going to be his last season with the show. Randy Jackson can sometimes come close to his wit and honesty, but it's not the same. The women - well, they'll get a female guest judge now and then who actually knows her head from her ass about judging talent. Definitely waiting for them to get rid of Kara DioGuardi - she's a Paula wannabe re: Simon and her comments about the talent are typically forgettable.

Those opening episodes give me the creeps. Listening to that crap is almost physical torture for me and it's not like I'm very musical or something. I can't sing - but I know it :p I wonder every time where those people get the self-confidence to step in front of the camera. You said it Ost, most of them shouldn't even sing in the shower.

Right while I'm writing this hubby is watching one of these 'first episodes' and I'm very tempted to close all doors between the living room and my computer room, which would be three. Gawd, most of their yodeling sounds as if someone stepped on a cat's tail!

I don't think it's a matter of self-confidence as much as outrageous ego - possibly coupled with friends and family telling them how wonderful they are :p

Can you imagine being those four judges - forced to listen to that all day long, plus taking abuse from people who refuse to accept the truth? I just shook my head at this one guy - going in, he said whatever they told him he'd accept; came out (rejected) saying they didn't have any brains (in much more graphic detail). Love is so fleeting...
