The hell with it...

I've probably managed to get myself banned from Digital Spy. No big loss at this point, considering the place has been so thoroughly contaminated by one poster's vindictiveness. But I finally decided to call a spade a spade. Normally I try to ignore her, but when enough bricks hit you in the head, it's kinda hard to do.

But this whole forum rules thing bugs the hell out of me. Has for some time. How do you respond "politely" and "respectfully" to other members who choose not to post "politely" or "respectfully"? It's like fighting with both hands tied behind your back. I like the way ani handles it over DTD - if you let her know when someone pulls that shit, she comes down on them like a ton of bricks. The mods over at DS take forever to respond, if at all (in this case, *not* at all). So I figure if they don't care what she posts, I have the same rights.

The really sad part about this whole thing - well, actually, there are two. First, that friends and family of Dirk's have to see that kind of crap on the web, and second, that there are people out there ignorant of her whole pathetic issue who will believe what she says.

okay I've just read your response now (finally had the time).

I bow down to you :D I actually don't think you were that bad. I think you spoke of fact, truth - what we are all thinking. So give yourself a good pat on the back :D

And OMG if she thinks Dirk is an alcoholic - what does that make me? :P

Anyway, gosh - he's a star - he's supposed to have "lost weekends :D I reckon there are "stars" out there, losing more than weekends :P

He obviously takes Terry Pratchett's advice about the proper behaviour of convention guests:

I stroll along, talk, I sign books, people buy me drinks, I forget where my hotel is, I get lost and fall into some local body of water... done it hundreds of times. Going to a convention is fun!

[identity profile] billy-shriner.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Gosh, I've done all of the above, except sign books :D

[personal profile] beckyblack 2008-07-15 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You could just randomly sign any books that people happened to have about their person. :D

[identity profile] billy-shriner.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god, you've just given me a drunken task / challenge bunny :D I go around, pretend I'm famous and sign anything and everything. If I've got the pen what can they do about it :D In Weston that would go down a storm !

I did make my friend collect phone numbers in a little black book on her hen night ::grins evilly:: the next morning reading the messages was hilarious :D oh those were the days... I've got two kids, I'm not allowed to behave like that any more ;o(

Could you pass as J.K. Rowling? in low lighting? :D

I think I smile too much

(is it me or does J K Rowling always look miserable - for christ sake she's richer than the queen!!! cheer up!

Hey, you know what they say. Money can't buy happiness. It can probably make a big down payment though.

[identity profile] billy-shriner.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually I think she's probably okay, but it's her lips /mouth - it just makes her look miserable, even when she's joking lol!

Hey, you know what they say. Money can't buy happiness. It can probably make a big down payment though.

Yeah I know - I'd at least try to make myself happy - or other's happy. (I'm already planning to publish your first book - if I win the lottery, before you get to do it :D)

Nice. :D You can set up a publishing house. And since one can't actually publish fanfic, publish books with a four man commando team, who are oddly familiar/thinly disguised. :D

[identity profile] billy-shriner.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey - I thought you wanted to write original stuff too :D I'd publish that. Hey would your spin off count?

Not once the A-Team show up. :D

Anyway, it's probably not the world's most realistic story, it's just fun for me and a couple of other people.

[identity profile] ani-bester.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Announce you are a fic wrtier. HP fans want fic writers autographs. People were getting lots of people's autograph at Portus just for writing fics drawing art being in podcasts etc =P In fact come to a convention withm eI'll be your shill, run up squee all over you, get your autogrpah and others will follow. Trust me. It'll totally work. =P

And yeah wait is she on about being drunk
. . .at a con 0.o

Has she BEEN to a con?
Has she seen other guests at a con. Esp. at night?

I was having to apologize for stayin sober! (because I had to drive home).

Send me links. I must see the warped reality of convention going.

[identity profile] billy-shriner.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
lol!

I'd love to go to a con! All that drinking involved :D OMG wouldn't it be great to have a drink with Dirk - what the hell is that woman complaining about - she's MET Dirk! I doubt I'll ever meet Dirk (although sorely tempted to go to Coventry whenever it is... but I haven't got enough guts to go on my own...not sure hubby would understand either lol!)

[identity profile] ani-bester.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
DUDE no joke!

The whole thing strikes me of someone being sorely dissapointed weith reality and going off the deep end over it.

And reality being he didn't fall madly in love with her and whisk her off to her own private fantasdy -_-

[identity profile] odonaill.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
ani, I think that's *exactly* it.
Before the cruise ( and I still have the e-mail ) she wrote to myself along with a few others her fantasy of what she wanted Dirk to "do" to her. It was vile. Disgusting.
I guess when she got on the cruise reality hit her and she realized she didn't have a chance.
It was directly after the cruise ( same day they got back in fact ) that the outrageous cruise tattle tales started.
Fans tying her up and threatening her ( I have *yet* to have any of her "cruise friends" contact me to back up her stories ), Dirk drunk and stoned all the time, Dirk shagging girls in the halls. Beyond the pale. And all documented.
Like a woman scorned from here to rapture.

You know how little kids when they can't get attention act out and get bad attention, but it's attention nonetheless?
This is her.

[identity profile] billy-shriner.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
And reality being he didn't fall madly in love with her and whisk her off to her own private fantasdy -_-

oh damn - I don't want to go then ;o)

sorry, I'm joking again... I don't do serious very well ;o)

[identity profile] odonaill.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
LMAO.

Ok Billy, that *was* funny :D

Actually, one woman on his first cruise actually requested that Dirk stand on the bow(? or stern can't remember which :P ) of the ship with each girl and re-enact the "Titanic" scene.
I almost shite myself laughing.

[identity profile] billy-shriner.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
See, now, I haven't seen the Titanic :-O but I do know the scene you talk about.

OMG what did Dirk say? Yeah sure, as long as theirs a scotch in it? ;o)

[identity profile] billy-shriner.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
opps... there's a scotch in it? Or a cigar, maybe?

[identity profile] odonaill.livejournal.com 2008-07-15 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Rofl.....

[identity profile] ostarella.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Consider my back patted ;-)

That whole drinking thing - my god. I started drinking when I was only a few years older than Dirk was, so I *know* from drinking. And to hear her tales of other conventions she goes to (not Dirk related) she's got a lot bigger problem with it than she even accuses him of. But basically, she takes bits and pieces of what he's said and puts them together in a whole new story to suit her perceptions...

I mean, let's face it (no pun intended ;-)) - a "drunk" could NOT raise two fine sons like he has. There just ain't no way.

[identity profile] billy-shriner.livejournal.com 2008-07-16 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
Gees, just because one likes a drink, it doesn't make you a drunk!!! So Dirk likes a scotch... big bloody deal.

I like a drink! I make sure I have a drink at the weekends, too! That's my treat :D I don't get to go out and *socialise* like I use to, so I make sure I have a glass (or two or three) of wine or some bottles of lager over the weekend. I'm not an alcoholic :D honest!

I don't allow myself to drink during the week... just because well, for obvious reasons... health, diet, weight.. and we can't afford it!!! lol!
