New week

Well, work is looking...boring. Always is, the first month of the quarter, but geez. Last night, from 9:15 until we left at 11 there wasn't a damn thing to do.Literally. We just wandered around...I'm taking my notebook with me tonight. If it's like that again, I'll work on some of my writing. Nobody's going to notice anyway.

So...goals for this week: four holidays and three quick picks, plus a new chapter of Covenant. I'm feeling good about Covenant again - finally! Getting to some nitty-gritty things again, and then moving into the ending. That's going to be fun - and a relief to get it finished. I'm thinking maybe five to six more chapters, then an epilogue perhaps. Then I have a lot of cleanup from the storm last night, and housecleaning. Have to start thinking about moving out of this house and into the old one - so much work to get done first! But as long as that's accomplished by sometime in October, before the really cold weather sets in, I'll be okay. I'm thinking, though, that if I'm working third shift again I'll leave the dogs in the main house while I'm at work - or maybe put in a supplemental (electric) heater so I don't have to worry about leaving the woodburner going when I'm not there. Anyway, that's way in the future, relatively speaking. ;-)

Major storm last night - neighbors across the street had a big tree split down the middle - luckily it didn't hit their house. I didn't have a lot of damage - lost a big branch off the apple tree, and some big branches from some of the others, but got off lightly. All I can hear around the neighborhood is chain saws (seems everyone owns at least one) and pickups and trailers full of brush and debris being hauled out. About an inch of rain, was all, though.

So, enough prattling on. Edited Chapter 56 of Covenant already, so I think it's ready to post on my site and ff.net, along with the shorties I did. Had an email from one reader, expressing regret that I wasn't going to finish Covenant - talk about incentives to get moving again! Geez...

Bloody hell - need to prove that wrong! :D Great goals by the way. Maybe I should start those... then again, maybe not. Already stressed as it is ;-/

Actually, it's a good way to "unstress". For one thing, it makes you think about the things you need to get done in an organized manner. Start out just writing everything down - and then start sorting. What *has* to get done? What would you *like* to get done? Then what are the "due dates", if any? Start prioritizing. What's most important? Least? Then what do you have to do to accomplish it? How long will it take, or how long are you "assigning" it (like two hours writing each day)? As long as you remember it isn't written in stone, it allows you to just work your way down the list, and know that you've allotted time to get everything done you need to. Like a budget for your finances, this is a budget for your time. Then you also know when you're going to be really busy, and when you are going to have extra time for working ahead - or for the "fun" stuff. ;-)

Well I have OneNote back so I am putting my To Do's in there. I do like lists. I just don't really want to waste time thinking about them too much - my *me* time is precious :D

I'm sticking to my rule though... trying to not do my *me* stuff in the afternoon (like answering ljs, writing etc. etc.) and getting on with jobs, then the evenings is my *me* time - so I'm either reading or writing, depending on my mood or the necessity etc.

So again, this afternoon I got some stuff sorted and ticked off my list - so I can sit here guilt free :D

Heh, yikes! Well I bet you made her day when you replied to say you are going to. The end is in sight! Can't believe it. What an epic.

Definitely take the notebook to work. I get plenty of notes and markup and stuff done during quiet times and all while looking like I'm working. :D

That storm sounds bad. And we Brits think we have unpredicatble weather!

Neither can I - I started posting this back in December! And the months spent before that on research...omg...

Definitely take the notebook to work.

Yeah - if the others can wander around gabbing to people, guess I can doodle in my notebook. ;-)

A couple pictures of the neighbor's tree:

whoa that tree looks split in half!! That was a bad storm!

Yeah our weather is unpredictable but rarely extreme - I guess we are lucky in that sense. Even if we are a tiny island sitting on the edge of a huge ocean... amazing really we don't get more extreme weather than we do ;O)

Yeah, it was basically split right down the middle - remarkably, the "standing" half looks like it just might make it!

Our weather does seem to be extreme - when it's hot, it's horribly hot. Or muggy - 80-100% humidity is almost common during the summer. And of course the damn winters...
