FFNet

Well, in case anyone's looking for my stuff on FFNet, it's gone. I tried to update some chapters and add the next chapter to Covenant and it totally screwed things up. So, rather than try to straighten it all out (which would mean going in and copying and then reformatting all kinds of chapters from Covenant), I just said the hell with it and took everything off. Left a note on my profile as to where people can find my stories, though.

Don't need hassles just to upload a simple chapter...

Bloody Fanfiction.net. I gave up on it years ago. :D

Yeah, I probably should have. It used to be fairly easy to upload - once I formatted things the way they wanted them (versus my own 'this is easy' way). But now... tried to just replace the edited chapters, but no, that wouldn't work. They put them up as brand new - plus they had ch 69 instead of ch 71 because the button I hit apparently reverted to the chapter *they* had listed... Not to mention that I made the original changes yesterday and they still hadn't shown up today.

So anyway, with the exception of a few over on the Archive, all my stuff is on my website and no place else (which, after trying to keep track of other people's stuff all over hell for the directory, only makes sense.).

Yeah, I ended up using my site and the archive only (oh and LJ, but not really using that as an archive as such.) I would send shorts to go up on the archive, but for the long stories I would send chapter links. Then if I did need to tweak a chapter I didn't have to mess Sherry about sending a replacement version, or leave an uncorrected one on the archive.

Yes, it's definitely much easier to clean things up if it's on your own site. You know exactly what to do and where, and don't have to bug other people or learn how to do it on their site. Much, much easier.

Yeah, because Google moved my website, I've kinda stuck with ff.net as at the moment, I know it's where everything is stored.

One day I might invest in another website, but I can't be arsed. It will aggravate my RSI for one. Because it's all mouse work to get it uploaded :-(

I'm glad I went to GoDaddy. It's all mine! lol Plus it's only about $5/month, and I think $13/year for the domain name. If I ever get published and decide to do something online as a 'real author', I'll probably go through them for that as well (I think they have blogs connected to your website). But I'd probably piss more readers off if I started spouting my theories on writing (and other things)! lol

It's funny, but I've been getting lots of notifications lately from ff.net - readers adding to favourites/alerts etc. So I still like it. It does give me a bit of an ego boost... and every now and then, I even get a review. :-P

I've not been in fan fiction as long as you two ;-P

I still get an occasional note, but then I haven't posted anything in so long :( Which reminds me, I forgot to save the comments when I deleted the stories! Bloody hell...

Oh well. Maybe it'll show up on the wayback machine one day.
