witter, witter

I suppose I could chalk this up to another wasted day - worked last night, work tonight, so didn't do a lot. But I did load up and haul out a truckload of brush and tree stumps; got the truck gassed up instead of waiting to do it on the way to work (when I typically run late :p); took on a 'giant' on one of the writing forums I'm on, found a published writer who volunteered to beta my book as it's being written (who doesn't know my fanfic work so will be completely neutral ;-) )... and actually got 4.5 solid hours of sleep in this morning. So not a completely wasted day.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful day (mid- to upper-70s and sunny) and I don't have to work that night, so planning on clearing out a bunch of brush (why is there always brush to clear? Maybe because it starts out growing from the ground :p), cut down a bunch of shrubbery so I can do some temporary roof repairs on one of the outbuildings, put up a fence around the back door so the dogs don't have to be on leashes this winter, mow the lawn/leaves to put in the new post heap I started Monday... yeah. I'm going to sleep GOOD tomorrow night :D

And now I'm going to take a short nap before getting ready for another night of managers saying "Tonight will be a piece of cake" and the associates busting ass trying to get everything done...

That's an instant clue that the shift is going to go wrong in every way possible!

Definitely - the other night they said that and my dept ended up one person short, the truck came in late (so we had to unload it), we had a mammoth number of pics (previous overstock to get out on the floor), and an extra pallet of freight over what we normally have.

Yeah - I hate when they say that...

But at least nobody had to fight a huge guy with a ginger beard...

There are nights when I think that would be preferable! LOL

You been fighting again? Was it on Absolute Write? I dropped that place a few days ago - need to cut down! Now I'm tempted to go and see what you've been up to. :D

Ooh, new beta - exciting! Good idea to have someone who's totally fresh eyes to it. I know there was an issue with Billy's chapter for the New Voice competition that I didn't spot because I knew the story from its fic version too, where the issue wouldn't have been a problem!

As an A-Team fan of course your heart will immediately sink when someone says that and think - now we're in trouble!

Yeah, the old rabble-rouser at it again! LOL Not on AW, but with a guy who's on there and this other forum. He's got a lot of good advice and a lot of experience - but he also has a God Complex and sometimes his 'opinions' get stated as facts - and he won't admit that he's not always right...

Yeah, I've been thinking about that for a while - not that I don't trust my betas ;-) - but I don't want to rely completely on people who know my writing style already. It'll be going to a 'fresh audience' so fresh eyes, as you say, is probably a good way to hedge my bets, so to speak. :)

Yeah - see my response to Teej's comment :p
