Another day...

... another garden down! LOL Actually got two more mowed down, plus the second third of the lawn. I really wish I didn't have to work tonight - it's such a gorgeous day out! Mid-70s, sunny, breezy... I could get so much more done if I didn't have to get some sleep in.

sigh...

Anywho, have just the northwest corner of the yard to finish (the northeast is my brother's responsibility, but I can see me helping him get that cleaned up before the snow flies). I'm hoping to get that done tomorrow before my son arrives, but still have to finish cleaning the house. I don't know what's happened to me over the last few years. I used to keep my house so clean you could eat off the floors; now if I do the dishes every couple weeks, I'm... satisfied.

Actually, that's kind of developed since my mom died. Funny how things change inside oneself as the 'outside' things change. Mom died, John was out in California, I lost my house in the city... and gradually I just got out of "fight mode" and went into hibernation. The only projects I really get enthused about (and maybe that's why writing appeals to me) are the ones that have a completion to them. Housework - meh. Just have to do again in a couple days. Maintenance type yardwork (ie, mowing the lawn every week) - again, just have to keep doing it. But fall cleanup - that's finished when the snow comes and the idea of having everything neat and tidy for that big event - now that's completed! It's almost (but not quite) an obsessive thing. I want things tidied up, cleaned up, and then I want them to stay that way. Maybe because so many things in my life the last ten years (or more) have been so messy and there's no way to clean them up. Ever.

Gawd, I must be more tired than I realized. :p

Gah, the dishes! I wish I had room for a dishwasher.

I do keep up with them every day usually, but sometimes a long dishwashing session is good, because I end up coming up with all kinds of writing ideas!

But it's not worth sweating about, like you say. There are more important things in life than having a floor you can eat your dinner off. I mean unless David Hasslehoff is coming round nobody is going to be eating their dinner off it, are they?!

oh yeah! Gosh... I'm such a slacker on the housework front. why bother when my kids get it dirty again?

The tiling on my kitchen floor doesn't even look clean when I mop it. I'll probably be better, one day, when I have my new kitchen...

Shouldn't that read: one day, when the kids leave home...

That would mean I wouldn't get my kitchen for another 20 years :-O Maybe longer the rate kids take to fly the nest nowadays... I don't think so!

True - and the chances of his showing up are much greater than the chance I would let him in! LOL

How many gardens do you have? lol!

Oh my... well, the southwest yard has six, plus the rose hedge and the "regular" hedge; the southeast is just the hedge and two border gardens running by the house and along the street, about 4 feet deep each; the east yard has two similar gardens; the backdoor area has three; the northwest yard has four; and the northeast yard has eight (but they're smaller ones).

Soooo yeah. A few... ;-)
